Is he our mayor or governor?

The following is a conversation between me and my mother this morning, first let me give you a quick briefing about my mommy.
Uknowingly she has to be one of the funniest women I know and the best part is she does it without ever realizing how truly hilarious she can sound. So after taking my shower this morning I walk into my kitchen, not to hear a good morning or anything from her but this "I would just cut his dick off!" Now you can imagine my look of shock. Mind you she was referring to our governor Elliot Spitzer and his current act of infidelity. So she continues to go on about "What a pig" he is and so forth all before my first cup of coffee for the day.
Now comes my blonde moment: Below is a conversation between her and I as I begin my blogging for the day.

News reporter on 106.7- "Elliot Spitzer to resign as early as Monday"
My mom: (In a sarcastic tone) "Well thats just great, I hear the guy to take his place is no bargain and he's blind!"
Me: Wait so Elliot Spitzer is our mayor?
My mom: "No Jennifer he's our governor.
