Who's the Bigger STAR??!!
The Stand Up for Cancer event had me thinking about all 15 ladies that were on that stage and a few of them I feel could have been rplaced by bigger and better stars for example where in the heck was Alicia Keys, Christina Aguliera and Jordin Sparks???? They are first and foremost powerhouses in the voice department and wayyyyyy bigger stars then someone like Ciara or Natasha Bedingfield. While having this same discussion with my other half it somehow veered off to who we felt the bigger star was Ciara or Carrie Underwood (both ladies appeared on stage at the event) My argument was that Carrie Underwood was a way bigger star because, one she was an American Idol winner and two she's supported by Country Music something we urban radio listeners no nothing about. Below I will list both of the singers stats so Im giving you all the opportunity to join in on my argument of Who's the Bigger Star!
Carrie Marie Underwood (born March 10, 1983 in Muskogee, Oklahoma) is an American country singer-songwriter. She rose to fame as the winner of the fourth season of American Idol, and has become a multi-platinum selling recording artist and a multiple Grammy Award winner. Her debut album, Some Hearts, was certified seven times platinum and is the fastest selling debut country album in Nielsen SoundScan history. Some Hearts yielded three number one hits on the Billboard Country charts in the United States and Canada: "Jesus, Take the Wheel","Wasted", and her biggest hit to date, "Before He Cheats". Additionally "Don't Forget to Remember Me" topped the charts in Canada. Underwood scored another Top 10 Billboard hit with her charity single, "I'll Stand by You". Some Hearts sold a total of seven million RIAA-certified copies as of February 2008. In addition to being the best selling album by an American Idol contestant in the United States to date, it is also the best-selling solo female debut album in country music history.
Her second album, Carnival Ride, was released on October 23, 2007. It has so far sold about 2.3 million copies and has produced three number one country hits, "So Small", "All-American Girl", and "Last Name". Her current single "Just a Dream" is at #2 on the Billboard "Hot Country Songs" chart. Underwood's Christmas single, "Do You Hear What I Hear?" peaked at #2 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary charts. Aside from her vocals, Underwood's success is attributed to what many fans recognize as her wholesome image. To date, Underwood has sold over 11 million records worldwide. Underwood was inducted as a member of the Grand Ole Opry on May 10, 2008.
Ciara Princess Harris (born October 25, 1985) , professionally known as Ciara, is a Grammy Award-winning American singer,, dancer, fashion model, and soon to be fashion designer. Ciara made her debut in the summer of 2004 with the Billboard number-one single "Goodies". The album Goodies was released in the United States on September 28, 2004, and in the UK on January 24, 2005. It produced three top two singles on the Billboard Hot 100, selling over three million in the U.S., and over five million worldwide, and earned various awards and nominations.
Ciara's second album, Ciara: The Evolution, was released in December 2006. It has spawned the Billboard Hot 100 top ten hit "Get Up", and the R&B/Hip-Hop Charts top ten hits "Promise", "Like a Boy", and "Can't Leave 'em Alone". To date, the album, which went platinum only five weeks after its release, has sold over two million copies worldwide.
Ciara's highly anticipated third studio album, Fantasy Ride, is set to be released in December 2008. The first single "Go Girl" was released in early September.
